Redmi Note 14 Pro & Note 14 Pro+ Unboxing and First Impressions

There’s something about Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series that always brings excitement for Indian smartphone lovers. Every year, this lineup sets new standards for what a mid-range phone can offer. This time, it’s the Redmi Note 14 Pro and Note 14 Pro+, and as soon as I got my hands on them, I could feel how much effort Xiaomi has put into refining design, display, and performance.

I’ve been following Redmi’s journey since the Note 3 days, and honestly, this generation feels like a turning point. From the box itself to the in-hand feel, everything screams “premium” — yet the pricing still stays in that comfortable mid-range zone that Redmi fans love.

Let’s unbox these two beauties and see what makes them special.

Unboxing Experience: A Touch of Class

The packaging has evolved. Redmi has moved to a bold red box with white text, giving it a fresh identity. Inside, the familiar setup greets you — documentation, SIM ejector tool, TPU case (which is opaque this time), and then the phones themselves wrapped in that satisfying plastic cover.

The Note 14 Pro+ comes with a 90W charger and a Type-A to Type-C cable, while the Note 14 Pro gets a 45W charger. It’s nice to see Redmi still including chargers in the box when many brands have stopped doing that.

Holding the phones for the first time, I could immediately feel the difference. The Pro+ feels a bit heavier, thanks to its 6200mAh battery, while the Pro is lighter but still solid in hand.

Design: A New Identity for the Note Series

Redmi has experimented with design this year — and it works. The Note 14 Pro+ features a 3D curved AMOLED display that blends beautifully with the frame. The back has a dual-tone finish — one part matte, one part glossy — that catches light in a very premium way.

The camera module has a unique square-circle shape (they call it “squircle”), giving the phone a distinctive look. On the Pro, Redmi has used vegan leather, and honestly, it feels great. It doesn’t attract fingerprints, adds grip, and gives off a flagship vibe.

These phones no longer look like typical Redmi Notes — they look like something more high-end. Even though design preference is subjective, I personally love this change.

Display: Simply Gorgeous

Both phones feature a 6.67-inch 1.5K 3D curved AMOLED panel with HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 3000 nits. On paper, these are flagship-level numbers, and in real life, they deliver.

The bezels are unbelievably thin — screen-to-body ratio crosses 93%, and even the chin is minimal. Watching content on Netflix or YouTube feels immersive, and with stereo speakers, the multimedia experience gets a solid thumbs up.

I also like that Redmi used Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the front, and Gorilla Glass 7 on the back. It adds confidence when using the phone without a case.

Performance: Smooth and Snappy

Let’s talk power. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, while the Note 14 Pro gets the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra.

In day-to-day use, both are snappy — opening apps, switching between social media, even some gaming — all feels fluid. Benchmarks show around 7.3 lakh on AnTuTu for the Pro+, and about 6.5 lakh for the Pro. That’s a solid range for phones under ₹30,000.

I played BGMI for a while on the Pro+, and it runs at Smooth + Extreme (60FPS). There’s a large vapor cooling chamber, so thermals stay in check even during long sessions.

The only small disappointment? Redmi used LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage instead of faster standards. But in daily life, most people won’t really feel that difference.

Battery and Charging: Power Meets Speed

Battery life is one area where Redmi went big.

  • Note 14 Pro+: 6200mAh with 90W fast charging
  • Note 14 Pro: 5500mAh with 45W fast charging

These are massive numbers. The Pro+ easily lasts a day and a half, sometimes even two days with light use. And when you do need to charge, that 90W charger gets you from 0 to 100% in about 35 minutes. For travelers, students, or binge-watchers — this is a major win.

Cameras: Capable and Fun

Cameras have always been Redmi’s strong point, and this time, the setup looks promising.

The Note 14 Pro+ has:

  • 50MP main sensor (OIS)
  • 8MP ultra-wide
  • 50MP 2.5x telephoto lens
  • 20MP selfie camera

The Note 14 Pro has:

  • 50MP main
  • 8MP ultra-wide
  • 2MP macro

The Pro+ clearly has the edge with its telephoto lens. Portraits at 2.5x look sharp and natural. Skin tones are realistic, and HDR performance is quite balanced. Low-light shots also come out decent, though not flagship-level.

You can shoot 4K 30FPS from the rear and 1080p 60FPS from the front. The inclusion of AI tools like AI Erase Pro, AI Image Expansion, and Smart Clip make photo editing easier right on the phone.

Software and Features: HyperOS Gets Smarter

Both phones run on HyperOS based on Android 14. I expected Android 15 out of the box, but Redmi says the update to HyperOS 2.0 (Android 15) will arrive soon.

They’ve promised 3 years of major updates and 4 years of security patches — a good sign for long-term users.

The UI feels smooth, with some handy AI features like AI live call translation, interpreter mode, Circle to Search with Gemini, and AI subtitles. There are a few preinstalled apps, but you can uninstall them easily.

Connectivity and Extras

Both devices support 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, IR blaster, in-display fingerprint, and face unlock.

The Pro+ adds NFC and IP68 certification, while the regular Pro misses NFC but still gets IP68 rating. Both support Dolby Vision, Widevine L1, and dual stereo speakers — making them perfect for entertainment lovers.

SAR values are within limits, so nothing to worry about on that front.

Pricing and Variants

Redmi hasn’t officially revealed the final India pricing yet, but based on early leaks and Xiaomi’s usual trend, here’s what to expect:

  • Redmi Note 14 Pro: ₹25,000 – ₹28,000
  • Redmi Note 14 Pro+: ₹28,000 – ₹30,000 range

Variants include 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB for the Pro+. These options give users flexibility depending on their budget.

My First Impressions: Balanced, Bold, and Beautiful

After spending some time with both phones, here’s my honest take — Redmi has matured the Note series beautifully.

The Note 14 Pro+ feels like the one to go for if you love premium design, telephoto camera, and faster charging. The Note 14 Pro is the sensible pick for balanced performance and good value.

Both deliver on the essentials — display, battery, and everyday usability — which is what most Indian users care about.

If Redmi had included Android 15 out of the box and UFS 3.1 storage, it would’ve been nearly perfect. But even without that, the Note 14 series continues to hold the crown in the under-₹30K segment.

Final Thoughts

Unboxing and testing the Redmi Note 14 Pro and Pro+ reminded me why this series has such a loyal fan base. It blends performance, design, and practicality in a way that just feels right for India’s audience.

Whether you’re upgrading from an older Redmi or switching from another brand, the Note 14 series gives you that “premium without overspending” feeling. It’s not just another phone launch — it’s a reminder that good design and performance don’t always have to come at flagship prices.

So if you’re planning to buy a new phone this festive season, do check out the Redmi Note 14 Pro and Pro+. I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised
