Oppo F31 Pro Plus 5G Review – Smooth Looks, Big Battery, and Tough Durability

If you’ve been following Oppo’s F-series smartphones, you already know how popular they are in India — especially in the offline market. Every few months, Oppo manages to grab attention with something fresh. And this time, the company has launched the Oppo F31 series, which includes three phones: the F31, F31 Pro, and the top-end Oppo F31 Pro Plus 5G.

Now, I recently got my hands on the F31 Pro Plus 5G — and not just the phone, but also a full special edition box that came with some surprises inside! When I first opened it, it felt like unwrapping a festival gift. Apart from the phone, there were Oppo Enco Buds 3 Pro, a cool bottle, and even some studio merch. Honestly, Oppo knows how to create that premium unboxing experience.

Design and Build Quality: Slim Yet Super Tough

The first thing you’ll notice about this phone is how premium and balanced it feels in hand. The Gemstone Blue color variant I tried looks elegant, catching light beautifully when you tilt it. Despite its solid battery, it feels surprisingly light at around 198 grams and measures just 7.8mm thick.

Now, don’t let the slimness fool you. This phone comes with a 360° Armor Body made of tough polycarbonate and is military-grade certified. Oppo claims it’s damage-proof, and after dropping it a few times during my durability test (yes, on purpose!), it still survived without a scratch.

On top of that, the phone is IP66, IP68, and IP69 certified — meaning it’s resistant to dust, water, and even 18 different types of liquids. I literally washed it under running water, and it came out clean and working fine. So, if you’re someone who’s clumsy or just wants a durable phone, this one is a solid bet.

Display: Flat, Bright, and Beautiful

Oppo has finally moved away from the curved design and gone for a flat AMOLED display this time — and honestly, I think that’s a smart move. The F31 Pro Plus 5G features a 6.8-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, which feels buttery smooth while scrolling or gaming.

The screen-to-body ratio is an impressive 93.5%, so you get super-slim bezels and a more immersive viewing experience. With 1600 nits peak brightness, even under direct sunlight, the display remains bright and visible.

Another interesting thing — the screen is flicker-free and comes with 2160Hz PWM dimming, which reduces eye strain during night use. Plus, it supports glove touch and wet touch, which is handy if you’re out in the rain or washing hands.

Whether you’re binge-watching on YouTube or scrolling Instagram, the colors pop beautifully. Blacks are deep, and the contrast feels just right.

Performance: Smooth and Powerful

Under the hood, the F31 Pro Plus 5G packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset (Oppo calls it Snapdragon 73 in marketing), which delivers a strong mid-range performance. Paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage, it’s more than capable for multitasking and gaming.

I played BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile on it for about an hour. It easily ran 60fps on Smooth + Extreme settings without any major frame drops. Oppo has used its biggest-ever SuperCool VC Cooling System (529mm²), which really helps keep the temperature under control during long gaming sessions.

On AnTuTu, the phone scored over 900,000 points, showing a noticeable upgrade from the F29 Pro series. Even the CPU throttling test stayed at 91% stability, which is excellent for this segment.

Battery Life: Long-Lasting with Fast Charging

Now, this is where Oppo has taken a huge leap. The Oppo F31 Pro Plus 5G comes with a massive 7000mAh battery, one of the biggest in its category. For moderate users, it easily lasts a day and a half on a single charge.

And when you do need to top up, the 80W SuperVOOC fast charger inside the box gets you from 0 to 100% in about 40–45 minutes. That’s impressive!

Compared to the F29 Pro’s 6000mAh, this is clearly an upgrade. You can travel, shoot videos, or play games without constantly worrying about battery drain.

Camera: Balanced Shots with Some AI Magic

At the back, you get a dual camera setup — a 50MP main camera with OIS and a 2MP mono lens. On the front, there’s a 32MP selfie shooter.

Now, the photos from the main camera come out bright and colorful. Colors look a bit boosted, but many people actually prefer that pop in their shots. The portrait mode works well with good edge detection, especially in daylight.

What really surprised me was the selfie camera — skin tones looked natural and detailed. You can even shoot 4K 30fps videos from both front and rear cameras, which is quite rare at this price.

Oppo has also added some fun AI camera features, like:

  • AI Perfect Shot (keeps your eyes open in photos even if you blink),
  • AI Clarity Enhancer (sharpens blurred photos),
  • AI Reflection Remover and AI Eraser 2.0 (lets you remove unwanted objects easily).

For casual photographers, it’s more than enough. Though yes, I do wish Oppo had added an ultrawide lens — that’s one area where it still feels a bit incomplete.

Software and AI Experience

Out of the box, the phone runs ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. The interface feels clean and snappy. Oppo promises 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security patches, which adds to peace of mind.

You also get AI features integrated deep into the system — from AI Call Assistant to Live Gemini, which acts like your mini assistant, helping with queries, reminders, and photo edits instantly.

Overall, the experience feels smarter, more polished, and smoother than before.

Audio and Extras

The F31 Pro Plus 5G offers stereo speakers with up to 300% volume boost, making it loud enough for movies and music. The in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock work quickly.

Connectivity is also top-notch — Dual 5G, Wi-Fi 6, DSDA, and network boost chip S1 ensure strong signal quality. So, even if you’re in a low-network area, calls stay stable.

Price and Final Verdict

While Oppo hasn’t officially revealed the exact pricing at the time of writing, all signs point to the under 35,000 range. And that’s where things get interesting.

For someone who values a solid build, big battery, great display, and dependable day-to-day performance, this phone checks almost all boxes.

If I compare it to the Oppo F29 Pro, here’s where you see the real upgrades:

Clearly, Oppo has focused on practical improvements rather than flashy gimmicks this time.

Conclusion: Big Battery Meets Big Confidence

To sum it up, the Oppo F31 Pro Plus 5G feels like one of the most balanced and practical phones Oppo has made in its F-series so far. It’s strong, stylish, and smooth — three words that pretty much define the experience. The combination of military-grade durability, 7000mAh battery, and snappy AMOLED display makes it ideal for users who want something dependable and long-lasting.

Sure, the absence of an ultrawide lens might disappoint camera enthusiasts, but for most everyday users, this phone delivers exactly what you expect — and more. If you’re planning to buy a reliable 5G phone under 35,000, the Oppo F31 Pro Plus 5G deserves a serious look. And yes, if you love unboxing surprises, you’ll definitely enjoy the special edition box too.
